Rotary Club Of London South Citizenship Award
Criteria:
Each year, one Citizenship Award will be awarded to a graduating member of the Interact Club of London. The Interact member will be selected by a voting process by members within the Club, and the Rotaract Coordinators. The recipient will receive a certificate, along with a monetary award in recognition of their contribution to their school and Club.
A Rotary Club meeting date will be selected to make a cheque presentation to all selected recipients. The award certificate will also be presented to the student later in the year at their school Commencement Ceremony.
The word citizenship is a generic term that means “a member of a state or country” – or in our case a “school, or Club”. The choice of the name for this award is to recognize an individual that has practiced “good citizenship standards” in their school, and Club environment.
Guidelines for a “standards” are to be based on how an applicant applies the basic Rotary Rules:
Is it the truth?
Is it fair to all concerned?
Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
The following are some suggestions for the type of activities that Rotary members would categorize as examples of “Good Citizenship Standards”. This is not to be construed as a finite list. Many other examples would be applicable.
1. Support and participate in activities that promote goodwill in the school and the community.
2. Help to reduce discrimination to other student and Club members who are marginalized in the school.
3. Develop friendships with a broad range of students / members.
4. Provide help to students / members who are having difficulties in school
5. Be truthful to all students / members and staff in all your activities.
6. Participate in Community Service activities.
